Different reasons for Domain transfer cancellation

1) Canceled – Invalid Auth/EPP code – Please contact current registrar to obtain correct key

If you receive this message in your cancellation notice, first make sure that you entered the Auth code correctly.
Please mind that Auth/EPP codes are case-sensitive and may include all special symbols and characters.

An Authorization/EPP code is a transfer security measure, which protects your rights as a domain owner. This code is required when transferring .com, .net, .org, .us, .biz, .info, .me, .co, .io, .ca, .tv, .in, .mobi, .cc, .pe, .com.pe, .net.pe, .org.pe,.tech, .top, .party, .loan, .faith and other new gTLD domain names.
There are three ways to enter the Auth/EPP code when transferring your domain:

Add domain to cart and then click on ‘SET EPP CODE’;

Submit the transfer without Auth/EPP code, entering it later using the link in the email that is sent to the address associated with your M2host account;

Submit the transfer without Auth/EPP code, entering it as soon as it appears in your M2host account - Domain List (via Authorize Transfer option).

Domain transfers cannot proceed until we receive the Auth/EPP code for your domain name.

For security reasons, Auth/EPP codes are periodically updated by the Registry. In some cases, these updates may not be immediately reflected in the Registrar's data. If you entered the correct code and the transfer failed with this status, the Auth/EPP code held by your current Registrar may not be synchronized with the the code in the Registry. In this case, you must request that that to your current Registrar:

Generate the new Auth/EPP code manually for the domain, and

Synchronize it with the Registry.

Once you have the new Auth/EPP code, go to Domain-Transfer page to submit the new transfer.

2) Canceled – Domain contacts did not respond to verification email

After the transfer is submitted and the correct Auth/EPP code entered, to the domain’s Administrative email address (as listed in WHOIS) within 8-12 hours.
Keep in mind that the Transfer Approval email is sent to the Administrator contact listed in WHOIS at time of transfer submission. If this information has been changed, the email cannot be delivered to the correct address and the transfer must be resubmitted. Additionally, the spam filters of certain email service providers (Comcast/XFINITY or AOL, for example) may prevent the Transfer Approval email from being delivered. In this case, you may request that our support staff resend the Transfer Approval email from an alternative email address.

 3) Canceled – Domain is locked at current registrar, or is not yet 60 days.

Registrar Lock is a security feature that prevents unauthorized or unintended domain transfers. In most cases, Registrar Lock is enabled by default, you must therefore contact your current Registrar is you wish to disable it.
You must wait at least 60 days from registration before transferring your domain. Additionally, domains cannot be transferred within a 60-day period after previous transfer (see ICANN's 'Policy on Transfer of Registrations Between Registrars').

If your domain transfer has failed due to this error, please make sure that:

  • The domain was not created or transferred within past 60 days;
  • Registrar Lock is disabled. Domain status in WHOIS should be changed from ‘ClientTransferProhibited’ to ‘OK’.

Once you have confirmed the above criteria, you may resubmit the transfer.

 4) Canceled – Transfer already initiated for this domain

You may not start the transfer process for a domain if there is already a pending transfer order in our system.
Check the pending transfers in Dashboard section of your account.

If there is a pending transfer currently in yourM2host account, you must wait until that transfer is complete before starting the transfer process again. Otherwise, you may contact our support department by placing a ticket or via live chat and request to cancel the current transfer.

 5) Canceled – cannot obtain domain contacts from UWhois

This error message means that our system was unable to retrieve the complete contact information for the domain from the current Registrar. In some cases, the current Registrar may be blocking IP addresses for WHOIS queries and it may be necessary to request that they release complete WHOIS information for the domain. Once the contact information is generally accessible in public WHOIS, you may resubmit the transfer.

6) Canceled  –  Domain is currently undergoing transfer by another Registrar

If your domain transfer has failed for this reason, it means the domain is currently involved in the transfer process with another Registrar. Please double-check the spelling and TLD of the domain name for which you are submitting the transfer.
If you have verified that the domain is spelled correctly and is not involved in another transfer and continue to receive this error message, please submit a ticket to our Domain - Transfers department we are always happy to assist you.
